- ** Looking for names of Sarah Ann's parents and information about her first husband. Jacob Books' obituary states Sarah was from Halifax and came to Middletown with her husband George Davis and that she had a son John Davis. The postmaster of Halifax, William Shell, attended her funeral, so one would guess he is a relative.
A David More, b. 1810 lived with her at 1860 census; brother? He is probably the David Moore who died 18 Apr 1880 in Middletown.

An Aged Mother Passes Peacefully Away, her Death Unexpected.
The death of Mrs. Jacob Books, which came with such startling suddenness on last Friday afternoon, caused a feeling of deep sorrow throughout the town. Her death was a sad surprise, a great shock and a source of profound regret. Her loss will be felt and mourned by all who knew her. Without a moment's warning she was cut down by the great reaper, in the 73rd year of her age. Mrs. Books had been in bad health for quite a number of years, but her death was entirely unexpected to everyone. The immediate cause of her death was paralysis, an affliction not regarded probable by her friends, on account of her attenuated appearance. She was stricken on Friday morning about 9 o'clock, just after coming out of the cellar with a cup of milk in her hand. Her daughter, Mrs. Charles Ulrich, heard her fall and ran to her assistance, exclaiming, "Oh Mother, are you hurt" only to hear the last words her mother ever uttered in life which were "Oh Sarah, my head." An unconsciousness then settled upon Mrs. Books, and continued until her dissolution at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
The funeral services on Monday were held in the M. E. church and were conducted by the Rev. David McKee, pastor, in charge. The sermon was based on a part of the third verse of the ninth chapter of Ecclesiastes: For the living know that they shall die. The speaker dwelt upon the certainty of death to everyone and of the knowledge everyone had of the fact and how necessary it was to be prepared for the judgement of death. In the course of his remarks he paid a glorious tribute of respect to the memory of the dead lying before him, on whose lifeless body loving hands arranged handsome floral tributes of affection. Many relatives and friends followed the remains to the cemetery, where interment was made.
