George Frederick 'Fritz' Miller, 84, Shillington, died Sept. 4 at 1:45 p.m. in Reading Hospital. He was taken to the hospital from Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville, where he had resided 21/2 years.
He was the husband of Doris L. (Berger) Miller.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Ralph B. and Emma (Smith) Miller.
Miller was a navigator in the Air Force for 24 years, retiring as a major in 1967. While in the service, he served in World War II, navigating B-24s with the Eighth Army Air Force, 97th Bomb Wing SAC, flying out of England.
After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed for 17 years as a chemical engineer, retiring in 1985.
Miller was a 1940 graduate of West Reading High School, a 1944 graduate of Lehigh University and a 1950 graduate of Rutgers University with a master's degree.
He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington, where he was active in Boy Scout Troop 236.
Miller was a past master of Puritan Lodge 740, F&AM, now No. 549, F&AM.
He is also survived by three sons: Philip B. Miller, Shillington; Frederick D. Miller, Roslyn; and Grant L. Miller, Sinking Spring.
Other survivors include a brother, Richard H. Miller, Dunlap, Tenn.
There are also eight grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville, with the Rev. Dr. John E. Fureman officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Please make contributions in Fritz's memory to Immanuel Church, 99 S. Waverly St., Shillington, PA 19607.
