Pine Plains, NY - Marion Augusta (Keeney) Bensing, 102, of Pine Plains, NY, formerly of Reading, PA, died on April 13, 2014 at the Noble Horizons Nursing Home in Salisbury, Connecticut, after a brief illness.
Born on August 20, 1911 in Rehrersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Mary (Schneider) Keeney and the late Ira Keeney.
She attended the Lankenau School of Nursing and worked a variety of jobs outside the home including private nursing care. She was an avid gardener and needle crafter, winning many awards at the Reading and Duchess County Fairs with her knitting, crochet, and smocking projects. A lover of the arts and a voracious reader, she was an inspiration to all.
Mrs. Bensing had two daughters, one surviving daughter, Grace Louise (Bensing) Dietrich and another who preceded her in death, Mary Ann (Bensing) Klein; three grandchildren: Marcia (Klein) Sterner of Windermere, FL; Jonathan Klein of York; and Jayme (Klein) Orlevitch of Glenside; and four great-grandchildren: Malorie, Paige, Alex, and Lily.
A funeral service will be held on April 22, 2014 at 1:00 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Rehrersburg, PA, presided by the Reverend Michael Klahr. Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, S. Main St., Pine Plains, NY, is in charge of arrangements.
