Robert L. Kline, age 79, of Strausstown, passed away Wednesday morning, August 3, in his residence. He died from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Zerbe) Kline whom he married November 5, 1955. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert Jr. and his wife, Holly, of Penn Township, and their two children, Joshua and Sarah Kline.
Also surviving are his brother, Daniel Kline, Lebanon; and a sister, Helen Wooten, Rehrersburg.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Harvey and Walter Kline.
Born December 27, 1931, in Jefferson Township, he was the son of the late Agnes (Bertram) and Isaac Kline.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952-1954 and was a lifetime member of the VFW Strausstown. Robert was also a member of Zion Blue Mountain United Church of Christ, Strausstown. He attended Wagner One Room School House until the 6th grade, when he moved to Womelsdorf with his family, and completed his schooling there. Robert worked at Carpenter Technology in the cold rolling department for 37 years. Most of that time, he operated a fork lift truck, retiring in 1993.
He loved motor sports as well as building and restoring cars. His favorite pastime was socializing with his many friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday August 6, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Blue Mountain United Church of Christ, 6573 Old Route 22, Strausstown, PA, with the Rev. Sharon Morris officiating. There will be a viewing from 8:30 a.m. until service time in his church. A horse drawn carriage will take him to his final resting place in Strausstown Cemetery.
