Ethel C. Markel, 100, of Reinholds, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was born in Robesonia to the late Clayton and Ada (Hughes) Wenrich, and was the wife of the late William H. Markel, who died in 1977.
She was a member of Swamp Christian Fellowship Church in Reinholds, for 75 years, a member of Friendly Circle and former member of the Reinholds Lioness Club. A graduate of Robesonia H.S., she enjoyed reading, word searches and cooking. Ethel worked as a machine operator for Keystone Nitewear for 38 years, prior to her retirement.
Ethel is survived by two daughters, Marjorie, wife of late Clyde Ulrich, of Reinholds, and Robbin, wife of Jonathan Haws, of Reinholds; six grandchildren: Bruce, husband of Kate Ulrich, of Illinois, Perry Haws, of Reinholds, Bradley, husband of Becky Haws, of East Earl, Jackie, wife of John Styles, of Lititz, Shawn, husband of Beth Haws, of Southport, N.C., and Jenny Haws of Denver; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the old Swamp Christian Fellowship Church, 390 Swamp Church Rd., Reinholds, PA 17569. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with grandsons, Rev. Brad Haws and Rev. Shawn Haws, and Rev. Craig Frazier officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Swamp Cemetery.
