    Notes
    • 6 Oct. 2011 Correspondence from Nancy Martin "Proof that George Crawford is the son of Henry Heilig can be found in the minutes of Cabarrus County, NC Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions. At the NC Archives I search the original books since they are easier to read than the microfilm. If I want to make a copy of a page, I then have to find it on the microfilm as no copies can be made from the original books.

There are 16 entries dealing with the estate of Henry. Henry didn't leave a will, so two brothers of Henry's wife, Lydia Goodman Heilig, were given letters of administration at the April, 1841, session of the court for the administration of Henry Hilick's estate.

Lydia married Jacob Rimer in 1842. There is a marriage bond for Lydia and Jacob dated Oct. 5, 1842. This may or may not be the date of their marriage, but for lack of another date, most researchers use the date of the bond as the marriage date.

At the July, 1843, session, Jacob was appointed guardian of George C. Heilick and Martha E. Heilick, "orpans of Henry Heilick, decd." Wilson Blackwelder was appointed guardian of Clarissa C. Heilick, Rosana Heilick and Michael Heilick, orphans of Henry Heilick."
