Walter W. Potteiger, 85, of Wernersville, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Carletta C. (Moyer) Potteiger, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage on Sept. 3rd. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Elmer and Madeline (Filbert) Potteiger.
He was a 1953 graduate of Wilson Senior High School. He was an Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Thomas Church, Bernville. Walter retired from Empire Steel Castings after 49 ½ years. He loved gardening, sports and being outside. He had enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, and was known as "Potty" and "Pop up Potty."
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian D. Potteiger, husband of Lori, Temple, and Kevin J. Potteiger, husband of Sharon, Exeter; two daughters, Robin G., wife of Neil Ganster, Wernersville, and Dawn L., wife of Ronald Bornmann, Muhlenberg Twp.; eight grandchildren: Nora, Amy, Lisa, Brent, Shawn, Kirstie, Aubrie, and Tobias; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Potteiger; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21st, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Epler's Church Cemetery, Leesport.
