Ellis E. Reber, 96, York, died Dec. 18, 2006, at 3:10 p.m. in Cross Keys Village Brethren Home Community, New Oxford, Adams County, where he had resided since January 2006.
His wife, Jeannettea I. (Strickhouser) Reber, died May 23, 1996.
Born in Centerport, he was a son of the late Henry H. and Emma R. (Yoder) Reber.
Reber was the owner and operator of Beltone-Reber Hearing Aid Service, York, working 60 years until 2003. He was widely known to the rural customers.
He was a 1926 graduate of Perry High School and a 1930 graduate of Elizabethtown College.
Reber was an Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of York First Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are three grandchildren: Karen, Gary and Ellis Conner, all of Fort Worth, Texas; and a nephew, James Reber, Lima, Ohio.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Saundra (Reber) Conner; and his two brothers, Homer and Carl Reber.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Mohrsville Church of the Brethren, Centre Township. Burial will be in Viewpoint Cemetery, Centre Township. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing in the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Salvation Army, 50 E. King St., York, PA 17401, or the York Rescue Mission, 367 W. Market St., York, PA 17401. Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, is in charge of arrangements.
