Carl C. Groff, 76, of Maidencreek Twp., died Saturday, June 8, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of Shirley F. (Seifrit) Groff. They were married on October 2, 1965 and celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Lester and Evelyn (Steinmetz) Groff.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Carl worked as a tool storage man for Dana Corporation, Reading. He and his wife also owned and operated Groff's Antiques and Second Hand Shop, West Hamburg. Carl was an auctioneer for 34 years; and auctioneered for the Kutztown Folk Festival for 24 years. He enjoyed cowboy movies and going to casinos. Carl was a member of the Alcoholics Anonymous group at Zion's Lutheran Church, Shoemakersville.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters: Sherry L. (Groff), wife of Jay Clouser, Matamoras, Pike County; Christina L. (Groff), wife of Ronald Workman, Landenberg, Chester Co; and Drena L. (Adams), wife of Theodore Romberger, Shoemakersville; nine grandchildren: Shawn, Michael, Jessica, Brandi, Christian, Noah, Angela, Pamela and Stephanie; and five great-grand-children: Logan, Karly, Jeffrey David Jr., Shannen, and Carter. Carl is also survived by one brother, Ralph Groff, and his wife Grace, Leesport; and one sister, Gloria (Groff) Michael Kauffman, widow of Kenneth Kauffman, Tilden Twp. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Groff; and two sisters, Joyce (Groff) Peters and Verna (Groff) Reimert.
Services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private in Christ Little Tulpehocken Church Cemetery, Bernville.
