Charles E. Derr Jr., age 76, of Fleetwood, passed away at the home of his daughter Tracy on Thursday, January 16, 2014.
Charles was born on November 14, 1937 in Fleetwood. He was the son of the late Charles E. Derr Sr. and Hedy E. Bossler.
He had worked at Carpenter Technology, Reading, in the receiving department, retiring after 35 years. He was a US Army veteran.
Charles loved his trike and used it daily for trips to market. On longer trips he would attach a trailer to carry bigger items. His constant companion was his dog Becky.
He is survived by his two daughters: Terry (Derr), wife of Matthew Royer, of Virginia; and Tracy (Derr), wife of Raymond Schwenig, of Fleetwood. Also surviving are grandchildren Christian Daniel Schwenig, Elyse Nicole Louise Schwenig, Joshua Tyler Schwenig, Kaitlin Elizabeth Royer, Kayla Joy Royer and Travis James Royer. Other survivors include a sister, Kristine A. Barrall of Blandon.
He was preceded in death by his brothers David N. Derr and Michael Derr.
Memorial service will be Friday February 7th at 11:00 AM at Fleetwood Bible Church, 2847 Moselem Springs Road, Fleetwood. Contributions can be made to the Wildlands Conservancy, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, PA 18049.
