Gordon D. Reed III, 78, Schuylkill Haven, died Jan. 26 in Lehigh Valley Medical Center near Allentown. His wife, Anna Maria (Funken) Reed, died April 29, 1999. Born in Schuylkill Haven, he was a son of the late Gordon D. and Dorothy P. (Phillips) Reed. Reed was the owner of the Gordon D. Reed Agency Inc., Schuylkill Haven, for the past 50 years. He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. Reed was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a charter member of the Schuylkill Haven Lions Club and was one of the organizers of the Schuylkill Haven Lions Ambulance Association where he was a driver and past treasurer.
Reed was an Eagle Scout with the Schuylkill Haven Boy Scout troop.
He was a past treasurer of the Schuylkill Hose Company, Schuylkill Haven, and the Schuylkill Haven Fireman's Relief Association.
Reed was a charter member and former treasurer of the Red Hill Game Association, Summit Station, Schuylkill County.
He was a past treasurer and director of the Jerusalem Cemetery Association for several years.
Surviving are two sons, Gordon D. IV, Cincinnati, and Frederick, Bowie, Md.
Other survivors include a sister, Cecelia (Reed) Keehn, Woodstock, N.Y.; and a grandson.
Services will be private in the Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Cressona, Schuylkill County. Burial will be private in Jerusalem Cemetery.
