Betty L. Gilmer, 80, formerly of Reading and Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Lawrence County Manor, Mount Vernon, Mo. She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Gilmer, Sr. in 2002.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Martha (Hartman) Witmyer.
She was employed with Palmer Candy, Reading, for several years.
Betty enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and word searches. She generally enjoyed doing crafts of all kinds.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis, wife of Ray Soliday, of Lebanon, and Marcia May of Aurora, Missouri. Also her step-brothers: John H. Gilmer Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Wyomissing; Keith Gilmer and wife, Sheila, of Bethel; and Kevin Gilmer and wife, Linda, of Leesport. She is also survived by several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by two brothers; and a son, Edward Teufel.
A graveside service will be held in Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W. Neversink Road, Reading (Exeter Township), on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Procession will form inside the gates of Forest Hills.
