Eleanor 'Bendy' H. Bendell April 2, 1920 - August 12, 2013 Resident of San Leandro Eleanor 'Bendy' H. Bendell age 93 died peacefully in San Leandro, CA on August 12, 2013. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Bucknell University in 1941. Bendy then went to University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1947 with a MS in Business Education. She came to California in 1952 where she continued to teach. Bendy was at Fremont High in Oakland from 1953 to 1983. She taught Business and was a counselor. Bendy was active in many organizations. Her greatest interest and participation was in Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Sorority for Women Educators. She held many positions, most notable as President of California ADK from 1974 to 1976. She iniated the California ADK Scholarship Program. She was a great friend to many. Bendy was always willing to give help and service. She will be missed by all who knew her. Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 1:00PM at Santos Robinson Mortuary 160 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alpha Nu Scholarship Fund, c/o June Carroll, Treasurer 4282 Sequoyah Rd. Oakland, CA 94605.
