Norman M. Books CHURCH HILL - Norman M. "Pops" Books, 70, 522 Ensor Road, died at 6:30 am Sunday (May 3, 1998) at Holston Valley Medical Center Emergency Room after an extended illness.
Born in Hershey, Pa, he was a resident of Church Hill for the last three years. He was a US Army veteran and a retired truck driver. He attended First Apostolic Church of Weber City, Va.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Boggs, in 1996.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah L. Books, Church Hill; a son, Cotey Alexander Books, Church Hill; two stepdaughters, Donna Clark, Knoxville, and Elaine Elliott, Kingsport; a stepson, James David Tucker Jr, Church Hill; a granddaughter, Gena Deck, Kingsport; a sister, Emma King, Hershey, Pa; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 pm today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, or anytime at 109 Thomas Street, Kingsport. Military graveside services will be conducted at 1 pm Tuesday at V.A. National Cemetery, Mountain home, by American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 and with the Rev. William White officiating.
