Dorothy A. Mengel, 96, formerly of Montrose Manor and Shillington, passed away peacefully November 22, 2014 at the Middletown Home, Middletown, Pa.
Her husband, Clyde C. Mengel, passed away October 1999. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Elsie Schoelkopf Auman.
Dottie was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1936.
She was a wonderful mother and homemaker, with a wide variety of skills, interests and talents.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over 70 years, and a former Sweet Adeline, with whom she sang for over 35 years.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: Neil M. of Jacksonville, Florida; Donna K. of Atlanta, Georgia; and Ivan L., husband of Rebecca of Mohnton, Pa. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one niece and three nephews.
She was predeceased by her two brothers, Elmer and Robert Auman, her daughter-in law, Barbara, son-in-law, Woodrow, a grandson, a niece and a nephew.
Dorothy donated her body to medical science.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Middletown Home, and later at the Hershey Medical Center.
The family has entrusted the care of the Matinchek and Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. to handle the arrangements.
