Ephraim Smith, Sr., died at his home south of town, early Friday morning, aged 80 years. Mr. Smith was in ill health for a long time and his death was hastened by a stroke of paralysis, sustained about two weeks ago. He was a farmer for many years and after his son, Ephraim, took charge of the farm continued to live in the old homestead. Another son, Mays, is the tenant of his other farm, adjoining the homestead, two daughters, Sallie and Ada, lived with their father. His other children are: John, of Canton, Ohio; Mrs. John M. Steiner, south of town; Mrs. Allen Bowman and Rebecca, of near Bismarck, sister, Mrs. Isaac Phillippy, Reistville, and two brothers, John, south of town, and Solomon, of Cleona, also survive. Another brother, Aaron, was burled a week ago today. Mr. Smith's wife preceded him in death several years ago. The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the house. Services will be conducted in Frieden's Lutheran church, this place, by Rev. A. K. Youse. Interment will be made on the Union Cemetery. Funeral Director Isaac N. Bahney has charge of the arrangements.
