- "Samuel Richards, surveyor, appraiser and widower with two boys lived in (Schuylkill County?) Pennsylvania. He married Sybilla Herring Batdorf (she was divorced from Gorge Batdorf). Together they had three children, Charles, Sara Ann and Lucyauette sometime before or during their move to Iowa. They stayed with "kin folk" near Mechanicsville and/or Lisbon, Iowa before moving to a farm near Cedar Rapids then, after the Civil War, to Belle Plaine."
