Anthony Russell LaScala, 72, of Coaldale, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, entered into eternal life Monday at home with his wife by his side.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, March 6, 1939, he was a son of the late Dominic and Ruth Eiler LaScala.
He graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School in 1957, where he was inducted into the National Honor Society, was president of his junior and senior class and played basketball, baseball and football.
Tony was a veteran of the Army and served in Germany.
He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, now Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran, and currently attended First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.
He owned and operated an insurance business in Schuylkill Haven for many years. He was presently working as a security guard at Wegmans, High Ridge facility, a position he thoroughly enjoyed and had many co-workers as friends.
Tony was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter.
Surviving are his wife, Antoinette "Toni" Allesch LaScala, Coaldale; a son, Alex Andre LaScala, Schuylkill Haven; three sisters, Joan Sterner, widow of Arthur, Anna Klahr, wife of Richard, and Ruth LaScala Tucci; a brother, Nick, husband of Suzanne Berger, all of Schuylkill Haven; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; an aunt, Honey Palko, Orwigsburg. He is also survived by a close friend, Mudge Berger.
