Jacquelyn D. (Mengel) Laskey, 88, of Reading, died November 19, 2016 in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township. Born June 16, 1928 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harvey E. and Margaret M. (Reinhart) Mengel. Jacquelyn was a 1946 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.
She was employed in the Food Service Department of the Reading School District for over 35 years, retiring in 2008.
Jacquelyn was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Reading, where she served on various committees. She was Past Matron of Elizabeth Herr Chapter #131, Order of Eastern Star, and Past Mother Advisor of Reading Assembly #33, Order of Rainbow for Girls.
Deeply loved by her family, she is survived by her two daughters, Cay E., wife of Scott A. Seidel Sr., of South Temple, and Peggy S. Berringer of Temple. Other survivors include her grandson, Scott A. Seidel Jr., and his partner, Lyndsey Seelig, and her daughter, Kennedy Mae. There is also a great-granddaughter, Madeline James Nicole Seidel.
Also surviving is her brother, Gerald A. Mengel of Muhlenberg Township.
She was predeceased by her loving companions; her dog, Fawn Star, and her cat, Angel Louise.
Services will be held Saturday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 1301 Luzerne Street, Reading, PA 19601. A viewing will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the church, with Eastern Star Services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
