Steven C. Keppley, 62, of Bern Township, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017, in the Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, Steve was the son of Shirley I. (Dietrich) Keppley and the late Richard T. Keppley.
Steve was a graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School, class of 1973 and worked as a communications supervisor for Carpenter Technology Corporation.
He loved the simple life, homesteading on his family farm of 18 acres, which included raising chickens and caring for his animals. Steve volunteered as an EMS technician and firefighter for over 40 years at the Leesport and Greenfields fire companies. He enjoyed war history and family ancestry. Steve was a godly man and a faithful member of the Zion's Church in Hamburg. He loved his family dearly and had a special relationship with each of his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his two children, Zach Keppley, husband of Laurel (Eaton), of Bernville, and Courtney L. Keppley, of Mt. Penn, fiancee of Erik W. Boll; five grandchildren: Paige, Noah, Evelyn, Lillian and Gracie; as well as two sisters, Sharon D. Fenske, wife of David, of Albuquerque, and Penny J. Chanez, wife of Genaro (Hank), of Chicago; a nephew, Gabriel; and his German Shepherd grand-dog named Ziva.
In addition to his father, Steve is predeceased by his grandfather, Charles Dietrich.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville, Pa.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. in the Zion's Church, 770 Zion's Church Rd., Hamburg, Pa, Reverend Randy Bond will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in the Bern Cemetery.
