Daniel Care Sr., 73, of West Lawn, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 2:05 a.m. in his home surrounded by his loving family after a hard-fought battle with bone cancer.
He was the husband of Patricia A. (Ream) Care, his soulmate and best friend, for the past 58 years.
Born in the village of New Schaefferstown, he was the son of the late Clement and Goldie (Heffelfinger) Care.
He was a member of St. Paul's UCC, New Schaefferstown, and was a truck driver for The Bachman Company for 30 years until his retirement, having earned two Million Mile safety awards during his time there.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his children: Gregory S. Care, husband of Justine Care, of Mohrsville; Dean M. Care, husband of Brenda Care, of Bernville; Tina R. Gring, wife of Michael Gring, of Sinking Spring; and Daniel Care Jr., husband of Lori Care, of West Lawn; and his grandchildren: Gregory Jr., Anthony, Brianne, Deanna, Christian, Kelsey and Taylor. Also surviving are his siblings, Sally Yacomes, of Oley, and Clem Care, of Fleetwood. He was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Achenbach and Sandra Kulp.
Dan was an avid sportsman, loved hunting and deep-sea fishing, and golfing with his buddies with special memories of his annual Myrtle Beach golf trips. He and his wife spent many years enjoying trips in their Winnebago including winters in Florida and a 3-month trip around the country. They also enjoyed a summer home in Leisure Point, Del., for 21 years.
He loved cars and anything that went fast from the numerous automobiles he owned through the years including street rods and muscle cars to his love for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He's been known to throw back a "Bud" or two with his family and friends but spending time with his family and his four-legged buddy, Bouncer, was what he enjoyed the most.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Cushion Peak Rod and Gun Club where he enjoyed volunteering his time, Clover Park AA, Mt. Pleasant Fire Co. and the Gouglersville Fire Co.
Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held in Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, Friday, April 20, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. Amy S. Landis, certified celebrant, will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
