William J. Rahn, 87, of Riverview Park, passed away January 21, 2019, in the Lutheran Home at Topton where he had been a guest since January 2nd. He was the husband of the late Jo Ann P. (Proudfoot) Rahn with whom he shared 42 years of marriage prior to her passing July 20, 2012.
Born in Temple, he was a son of the late William H. and Beulah M. (Seaman) Rahn. Bill worked at Reading Body Works for 40 years, retiring in 1999 as vice president of product engineering. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Cogswell during
the Korean War. He was a member of Christ Church, United Church of Christ, Temple, and served as a deacon and elder on consistory.
Bill was a Muhlenberg High School and Wyomissing Polytechnical graduate. He was a member of St. John's Lodge No. 435 F&AM, Rajah Shriners and many local fire companies. He enjoyed the Reading Phillies, the Philadelphia Phillies, spending time outside on his porch and lunch with his friends. Bill obtained his single engine pilots license at the Kutztown Airfield.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Linda S. Auge, Germantown, Md.; Barbara L. Rahn, significant other to Christopher McNeill, Alsace Twp.; 2 granddaughters, Megan A. Auge and Jordyn N. Auge, both of Hoboken, N.J.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his son, Bradley D. Rahn in 1989; and his siblings, Dennis R. Rahn and Beatrice O. Quinn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. at the Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., One E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington. Rev. Dr. Harry L. Serio will officiate. Interment with military honors in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.
