Arlene L. Deck, 101, of Cornwall and previously of Fredericksburg and Hershey, passed away on June 5, 2019, at Cornwall Manor. She was the wife of the late Ray Deck who died in 2001.
Born in Fredericksburg on February 23, 1918, and raised in Hamlin, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Lillie (Grimes) Swope. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. Arlene and Ray ran the Fredericksburg post office for 37 years. Arlene served as the postmaster, while Ray served his country overseas during WW II. She was a past member of Fredericksburg Lionettes, the Lutheran Church Women and the Jonestown Business and Professional Women's Club. Arlene loved her family and friends and loved to laugh.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane L. wife of Patrick S. Blaser of Hershey; grandchildren Jessica Somers of Lenexa, KS and Zach Blaser of Allentown; four great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Anna M. Swope of Hershey, Nancy wife of John Rhen of Jonestown and Frances Lutz of Hershey. She was preceded in death by a sister Florence Gerhart and her brother Gene Swope.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd. Jonestown. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
