Venice M Matthias, 98, of Keystone Villa, Blandon formerly of Fleetwood, passed away on Thursday April 1, 2021. She was the wife of the late Earl Matthias. Born in Topton, PA on May 7, 1922. She was the daughter of the late George M. Bailey and Ida (Schlegel) Bailey. Venice was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fleetwood for 83 years ? her second home. During this time, she was Choir Director of the Junior Choir, also long-time member of senior choir, Cultural Series Committee as well as the music librarian. She organized volunteer activities at St. Paul's Church. Specifically, Time and Talent, who assemble quilts which were donated to Opportunity House, Lutheran World Relief, Mary's Shelter, Women in Crisis and Community Prevention of Berks County. She was a member of the Historical Society, Order of the Eastern Star-East Penn Chapter #336 for 50 years, Camp Fire Girls, and Fleetwood Seniors. Preceded in death by her sister Florence Gehris. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and many caring friends. Order of Eastern Star Service will be at 10:30AM Friday April 23, 2021, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 117 East Arch Street, Fleetwood. Followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Thomas M. Lang officiating. Burial will be at Fleetwood Cemetery.
