Hag, George - Last Will and Testament

Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania

In the name of God, Amen. I George Hag of Upper Paxton Township in the county of Dauphin and the State of Pennsylvania. being well advanced in age and weak in body but of sound mind, thanks be to God for same, and having considered the mortality of man, knowing that it is appointed for all men since to die. Do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say:
First, I commit my soul into the hands of God who gave it hoping through the merits of my redeemer Jesus Christ a blessed resurrection, and of my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner, and touching my worldly affairs wherewith the Lord blessed me in this life.
I give and bequeath the same as follows - First, It is my will and I order, that my just debts and finance expenses be paid as soon as possible after my death, I give and bequeath unto my oldest son George Michael Hag as my first born in advance the sum of five pounds, good and lawful money, I give and bequeath unto my oldest son George Michael one hundred and fifteen acres of land of land with appurtenances for ever out of my estate for the sum of ninety pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid to me or my heirs if the same, if the same is not all paid before my decease then he shall pay the same to the rest of his brothers and sisters, who shall divide the same in equal shares, This is my will and testament, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Philip Hag and to my beloved son Mathias Hag one hundred and eight eight and one quarter acres of land with appurtenances for ever to be equally divided and if one or the other, should wish to sell his land he shall sell same to the other, it must remain together my son Philip Hag must pay to my son George Hag the sum of fifty pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania twenty five pounds whereof must be paid in one year after my decease and that Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must pay to my son George Hag and that Mathias Hag must also pay the sum of fifty pounds good and lawful money to George Hag, I give and bequeath to my oldest daughter Barbara and her heirs thirty pounds,I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Catharine thirty pounds, I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Christine thirty pounds, I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Margaretha and her heirs forever thirty pounds,I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Susanna thirty pounds this 28day of May in the year of 1796.
