Merle M. (Dierolf) Stuart, a nutrition buff, a deeply religious woman, and the wife of radio and television announcer Streeter Stuart, died of pneumonia April 3 in Beverly Hospital. She was 98 and lived in Danvers.
"She said she knew the reason she lived so very long was because she benefited from very careful nutrition," said her son, the Rev. Douglas Stuart, of Bradford, a teacher at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
"She just believed that God wanted us to be as physically well as we could be to do his work."
Mr. Stuart traced his mother's faith to her own parents, and her passion for nutrition to a mysterious illness she suffered in 1950.
