Merritt P. Anthony, 87, of Walnutport, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010, in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Cedar Crest. Born in Treichlers, he was the son of the late Horace and Olivia (Heckman) Anthony. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Arrow Carrier for 40 years, retiring in 1982. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Diamond Fire Co. Merritt was a World War II veteran of the Navy Seabees, serving in the Central Pacific Theater of Operations.
Survivors: His wife, Ruth; daughters, Janice and husband, Ed Klucsarits, of Schneckville, Susan and husband, Brian Umstead, of Palmerton, Linda Chruscz and her companion, Charles Naunowicz, of Slatington, Patricia and her husband, Neal Hanson, of Nazareth; sons, John Anthony, of Florence, SC, Gregory Anthony and his companion, Lori Begley, of Walnutport; grandchildren, Tabitha Chruscz, Melissa Anthony, Sarah Hanson and Jennifer Hunsicker; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jonathan Hunsicker. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Vogel Fredo; and a brother, William F. Anthony Services: Private, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements, Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington.
