Raold W. Bowers, 62, a business and industry consultant, died Nov. 12 at the Chester County Hospital, West Chester. He lived in Birmingham Township.
Mr. Bowers was born in Reading, Berks County, and was a 1943 graduate of Reading High School. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and received a degree in electrical engineering from Columbia University in New York City.
He served during World War II with the Navy in the Pacific. After his military service, he attended Harvard University graduate school of education, where he received master's and doctoral degrees in education.
Mr. Bowers worked at Harvard in 1951 and 1952 for a research organization associated with the school.
During the Korean War, he worked as a civilian in the Special Devices Center for the Office of Naval Research, Long Island, N.Y. He then worked for Du Pont Co. in Wilmington for 13 years as a personnel researcher.
In 1967, he moved to Connecticut and worked both in New York City and Connecticut as a business and industry consultant, dealing with employee relations.
He came to Chester County in 1978 and formed his consulting company, Bowers & Associates.
Mr. Bowers was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, the American Psychological Association and the Delaware Psychological Association. He was a former Eagle Scout and had been an adult scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia McFarland Bowers; two sons, David M. Bowers and Peter A. Bowers, and a daughter, Mary C. Bowers.
A funeral was held Monday in the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester. Burial was private.

Bowers-McFarland Betrothal Revealed
Mr. and Mrs. David McConkey McFarland of Town Acre, West Chester, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Patricia, to Raoul Walker Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Emery Bowers, of this city.
Miss McFarland was graduated from Wilmington Friends School and from Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt., class of 1949. At present she is associated with the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Mr. Bower was graduated from Reading High School class of 1943, attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was selected under the Navy V12 program to attend Columbia University for study on the Manhattan Project, from which college he received his BS in engineering and commission as ensign. After a period of active service he resumed study at Harvard. At present Mr Bowers is chairman of the editorial board of the Harvard Educational Review, teacher of science in the university and an advanced student in the School of Education.
