Cerise N. VanPool, 84, formerly of East Stroudsburg, passed away Sunday, February 6, in the Brook Grove Nursing Home, Sandy Spring, MD. She was the wife of the late Robert E. VanPool who died in 1993.
Born on January 8, 1921 in Poplar Bridge, Middle Smithfield Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Yudella (Cortright) Spangler and had lived in this area most of her life. She had worked for many years as a hostess at the former Vacation Valley in Middle Smithfield Township before retiring.
Cerise was a member of the Berean Bible Fellowship Church in Stroudsburg and the Marshalls Creek Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Griffin of East Stroudsburg and Gloria Jean Clark and her husband, Howard E. of Montgomery Village, MD; two grandchildren, Debbie Clark and Raymond Clark, both of Frederick, MD; and one great grandson, Trevor Duffles of Washington D.C.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 9, at 10:30AM in the Berean Bible Fellowship Church, Stroudsburg. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Middle Smithfield Township.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 9:30AM until the time of service at the church.
