SPRINGDALE -- Genell Woodbridge, born May 19, 1929, in Cincinnati, went to be with her Lord on April 10, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jay E Woodbridge, and her parents, Fred and Lena Hamilton.
She is survived by her son, Gary Alan Woodbridge and his wife Patty Woodbridge of Guthrie, Okla., and her son, David Jay Woodbridge and his wife Wendy Woodbridge of St. Charles, Ill. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Matt and Kelsey Woodbridge of St. Charles, Ill., and Garrett and Haleigh Woodbridge of Guthrie, Okla.; and a sister, Geneva Rossen and her husband Warren of Victorville, Calif., and a host of nieces and nephews.
Genell was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. Genell grew up in the Round Mountain area and later moved to Fayetteville. After marrying Jay, they moved to Chicago, where Genell was a hair dresser and then to Morristown, N.J., where they raised their sons. In retirement, they moved a number of times in the Northwest Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri area. After Jay's death in 2002, Genell moved back to Fayetteville. Genell loved working in her yard and also loved attending church at Center Street Church of Christ. She volunteered with the church as much as her health would allow.
Services will be held at the Center Street Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, with Mr. Jack English officiating. A graveside service will follow at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. To sign the online guest book go to www.nelson-berna.com.
