Orlea Elizabeth "Lee" Hartman, 88, of Richmond Township, Pa., passed away October 18, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 25, 1930, in Virginville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Elwood Lewis and Angelina Elizabeth (Dreibelbis) Wanamaker. She was the wife of Robert N. "Bob" Hartman who died December 4, 2014.
Orlea was a 1948 graduate of Kutztown High School and a 1952 graduate of Kutztown State Teacher's College. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for 33 years, having taught in Alaska; Richmond Township, Pa.; Fairfax County, Va.; and Ft. Belvoir, Va., where she retired from in 1985. Orlea loved spending time with her family, gardening and flowers, and never missed a Saturday listening to Jack's Backyard on WEEU. She was also a pen pal and enjoyed writing to others who were also born in 1930. She also enjoyed keeping up with her high school classmates.
Surviving are her three children: Lois R. "Lori" Hall, of Rockland Township; David L., husband of Tracey M. Hartman, of Woodbridge, Va., and Doreen H., widow of Alan L. Roper, of Shippensburg.
Also surviving is her sister, Louise Schmehl, of New York; and her brother, Larry Wanamaker, of Bally. There are also nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Oley, is in charge of arrangements.
